On Windows, open Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc) from the Start menu and enter your server's IP address; the user name is Administrator and the password is the one on your service page. The connection uses port 3389. On macOS, iOS and Android, Microsoft's official remote desktop app is all you need. If you cannot connect, you can reach the server's screen through the VNC console in the client area.
! @ _ - .). The RDP port gets constant password guessing from the internet.Windows Server uses more memory than Linux because of its graphical interface. For single-user remote desktop and light business applications we recommend starting from the plans with at least 4 GB of RAM; if a browser, office and business software will run at the same time, look at 6–8 GB and above. If the live usage graphs in the panel show memory constantly full, it is time to move to a larger plan.
Without additional licences, Windows Server allows only two simultaneous remote desktop sessions for administration. For several users to work at the same time in their own sessions, Microsoft's Remote Desktop Services (RDS) role and licences are required. Please ask our support team about licensing before you order.
If your programs need a graphical interface, depend on the .NET Framework or are written only for Windows, choose Windows; for websites, bots, Docker containers and services managed from the command line, Linux does the same job with fewer resources. For Linux distributions, see the Linux VDS page.
