03Guide

Node.js applications in cPanel

With the Node.js application manager in cPanel (Setup Node.js App) you choose your application's version, folder, startup file and address, and install dependencies with one click or with npm install over SSH. The application runs behind the web server and is served from your domain.

What is included?

SSH access is enabled on developer plans; each account runs in its own isolated file system with CloudLinux CageFS. Composer 2, Git, Node.js (10–24) and Python (3.11–3.13) come ready; you can choose the PHP version up to 8.5. The same plans are listed on the Laravel, Node.js and Python pages.

Processes that must stay connected and do not answer web requests, such as a Discord bot, are not suitable for shared hosting; see our Discord Bot VDS plans for those.

About Node.js hosting

Which Node.js versions are available?
In the application manager you can choose between Node.js 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24.
Can I run my Discord bot here?
For bots that must stay online all the time we recommend our Discord Bot VDS plans. Node.js hosting is for applications that answer web requests.
How do I install npm packages?
With the Run NPM Install button in the application manager, or by running npm install in the application's folder over SSH.
Can I upgrade my plan?
Yes. From the customer panel you can move to a cPanel hosting plan with more resources (including WordPress, e-commerce, developer, business and premium plans); an invoice is issued for the difference. Downgrades are not possible.
